Plumbing Lab Showcases Jail Display
Start with bits of plastic piping, add copper t-drilled connections, some black paint and a heap of imagination. When you mix it together you get the new prison display in the Plumbing lab.
The realistic mock-up of a jail/remand facility is the brainchild of shop aide Dave Marshall. With the help of apprenticeship students and instructors, the life-size jail cell with sanitary floor sink, stainless steel water closet and lavatory came to life - all operational.
“Making projects and actual visual displays as realistic as possible creates a better student response," says Dave, whose Plumbing Department coworkers laud his creativity and ambition. "Plumbing students can see in some reality how a cell unit is plumbed along with many other setups we have in our lab.”
