The MHC Spring Job Fair will highlight current or seasonal job opportunities and will put job seekers directly in touch with employers / recruiters. Unlike the Career Fair, which focuses on providing information to students on what they can do once they complete their education, the main objective of the Job Fair is to help attendees gain employment, whether it is full-time, part-time or seasonal. The following services will be available:
- Community Employment Services will provide FREE resume and cover letter reviews, interview tips, advice on job searches and networking.
- The advising and recruitment office will be host an Information Session in room S159 from 1:00 – 2:30 for individuals who have been out of school for a while but are interested in coming back. Attendees can learn about upgrading options, explore programs and courses and find out about financial aid. Those interested in attending are asked to pre-register for the workshop by calling 403-529-3819.
- Complimentary transportation to the College using City Transit routes is available to individuals with Job Fair bus vouchers, courtesy of City of Medicine Hat Transit Department. To find out where you can receive your complimentary Job Fair bus voucher, please call 403-529-3819.
St. Patrick's Day Brown Bag Lunch Social

Foothills Restoration Forum - Workshop

A special workshop as part of the Foothills Restoration Forum will discuss the reclamation and revegetation trials associated with the Express Pipeline in southern Alberta and the new Alberta Reclamation Criteria.
The workshop is free for students while others interested in attending will be charged $20 to cover the cost of coffee and lunch. Please register with MHC Continuing Studies by Wednesday, March 16. The registration code for students is CC0006 and for others CC0007.

Can-Am Unplugged

The Can-Am Unplugged art symposium will run from March 21 to Mar, 25. We have two visiting artists: Robert Katz from the University of Maine at Augusta and Pat Kikut from the University of Wyoming. Both these artists will be working with visual communication students and will give a slide/ lecture presentation in S-159 from 9 a.m. until 11:50 a.m. on Thursday, Mar. 24. Robert Katz will also be presenting a film on the holocaust called "Were the house still standing" on Tuesday, Mar. 22 in B-356 from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Her new book is designed for new and experienced gardeners and just in time for spring. In 'No Guff Vegetable Gardening' she lays it on the table—there isn’t only one right way to grow vegetables. Alberta Prion Research Institute Lecture
featuring Jay Ingram (Daily Planet Host)

The Alberta Prion Research Institute is planning a lecture series, featuring Jay Ingram. Jay Ingram will deliver an engaging 45-minute presentation on a topic of high social relevance – prions and protein misfolding diseases – in three communities across Alberta (Medicine Hat, Grande Prairie and Red Deer).
Aimed at a lay audience, the talks will give a sense of the mysteries surrounding the misfolded proteins called prions, their importance in animal and human health, and the challenges facing researchers who are trying to solve the many unknowns associated with them. Webcast: How can you determine if a student is exhibiting threatening vs. nuisance behaviour?

Recent events in the US have brought increased attention to how your campus identifies and responds to threatening behaviours. This webcast program will focus specifically on when and how to conduct an individualized threat assessment and the pitfalls to avoid in making certain it is done correctly and legally. Please join us to learn which questions are relevant - such as, "How can you determine if a student is exhibiting threatening (vs. nuisance) behavior?" - as well as the steps to take to respond to a student threat. Proactive prevention strategies will also be discussed.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Highlighting several fictional scenarios, our expert instructors will cover the following topics as they pertain to establishing a policy around and conducting individualized threat assessments:
- Applicable laws and legal issues
- Recent cases and examples
- Top 10 threat indicators
- Responding to behaviours
- The use of involuntary withdrawal protocols
This is an event geared toward a cross-campus audience, including directors of disabilities services, counseling and health center staff, security directors and administrators, residence life staff, academic advisors and administrators, campus legal counsel, and student life personnel.
