One College Update
The One College Initiative is an ongoing institutional effort to ensure we keep the promises we make to students. When we understand the students we serve – and have knowledge of their expectations, needs and goals – we can continually refresh and renew our programs and services to focus on their success. Achieving this goal requires us to gather and understand data, foster the participation of employees, and embrace change when it means students benefit. On October 3, representatives from SEM Works, the consultant MHC has enlisted to facilitate the One College Initiative process, were on campus to meet with the team Co-Facilitators to provide an orientation to the initiative. Please welcome the following volunteers who have been selected to be team Co-Facilitators in the One College Initiative.
Understanding Students Enabling Teams
The Understanding Students Teams will develop characteristic profiles for seven high priority student segments. The desired deliverable from the Understanding Students team will be a detailed and integrated report outlining the needs and expectations of each student group. These reports will be used to inform the activity of the strategy teams.

Strategic Enrollment Intelligence Enabling Team
The Strategic Enrolment Intelligence Team (SEIT) will enable the work of the strategy teams by developing a research/data strategy, facilitating the interpretation and use of available research and data, addressing data/research gaps, developing KPI’s and metrics, and assessing the ROI of strategies employed.

This team will be responsible for identifying best practice-based strategies in cultivating positive relationships with students, in providing seamless service delivery, as well as in addressing critical points of intervention required to create the conditions for success of each of MHC’s priority student segments at each stage of the student lifecycle (i.e. from initial inquiry throughout the students’ educational experience).

The Teaching & Learning Team creates an environment within which excellence and innovation in teaching is valued, and the learning styles and needs of students are recognized and met. The team considers and respects the pedagogical needs and challenges of personal circumstances of learners and strives to provide increased choice with regard to when, how and where learning occurs.

This team will be responsible for assessing existing and new program-related market opportunities based upon available enrolment trends and business intelligence; identifying market research needs; assessing market opportunity risks; recommending program planning parameters and antecedents for success; as well as identifying implications for recruitment/marketing, student success support systems, scholarships.

Canada Savings Bonds
The Canada Savings Bond Campaign is now open until November 1, 2012.
To participate in the Payroll Savings Program or to make changes to your existing plan, visit http://www.csb.gc.ca/. To access the site you will need our Organization ID: 15626
New participants:
Through the registration process you will create your own Client ID, Password, and Challenge Questions. You will then be asked to set up your monthly CSB contribution.
Existing Participants in the Payroll Savings Program:
- If you would like your current contribution to continue, do nothing.
- If you would like to make changes to your existing plan you will need to login with your existing Client ID and Password. If you have forgotten your Client ID you can retrieve it from the login page.
- Existing participants have the ability to create a personalized Client ID (something easier to remember) and set up Challenge Questions in the event you have forgotten your login information.
All changes and new registrations will take effect on December’s payroll.

Medicine Hat College Jazz Choir
The Medicine Hat College Conservatory of Music and Dance is pleased to announce the return of the Jazz Choir. Under the direction of newly appointed voice instructor, Adele Wilding, this ensemble will explore beloved standards from the Great American Songbook, Latin jazz and jazz arrangements of popular classics.
Participation is open to both teenagers and adults. No previous performing experience is necessary, but experience in choral singing would be an advantage.
