On Campus Events

EDUCAUSE Online Fall Focus Session
September 15-16

All staff and faculty are invited to attend this fall focus session on blended learning in the 21st century. If you are unable to attend the entire 2 day event, please feel free to drop into sessions that fit your schedule. This is an excellent PD activity and team building opportunity right here on our campus.  We hope to see you there!

EDUCAUSE is a non-profit association whose mission is to “advance higher education by promoting the intelligent use of information technology.”

September 18

Rattlers Hall of Fame Breakfast
Time: 9:30 a.m.
Place: Cafeteria
Join the Rattlers as they honour two inaugural inductees to the
Hall of Fame:
  • Sue Higgins
  • Mary Matthiessen (posthumously)
Everyone is welcome to attend this event. Tickets are $25/person with all proceeds supporting Rattlers Scholarships. Tickets are still available for purchase in the Sport and Wellness Office at MHC or by calling 403.529.3834.

At Your Service Fair
September 21


Last semester, the “At Your Service” fair was held in Centennial Hall for MHC students. The goal of the event was to make students aware of the support services that are available on campus to help them achieve academic success. Due to positive feedback from both students and participants, the event will be held again this fall on September 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Areas on campus providing these types of services can expect to see an invitation in the coming days.



An Evening in China
September 22

The F.A. Professional Development Committee is hosting, “An Evening in China” to be held on Wednesday, September 22nd at 7:00 p.m. in E160/161. Four of our faculty will be speaking on their P.D. experiences in China and the event is open to the public. There will be a $2 cover charge as authentic appetizers will be on hand for sampling. 



Retirement Celebration for Bill Miskiw
September 24

G4S security would like to invite all College employees to a “Come and go Tea” to celebrate the retirement of everyone’s favourite Security guard, Bill Miskiw. There will be cake and refreshments from 2:30 till 4 PM on Friday Sept 24th in the cafeteria. Please drop by and sign the card at the Security office and drop by to welcome Bill a long and healthy retirement.



One Book One Community 2010
October 22


This year’s book selection is Three Day Road. The author, Giller Prize winner Joseph Boyden, will be at the Medicine Hat College Theatre on the evening of Friday October 22, 2010. For updates, check out our new website: http://www.obocmh.ca/.

Copies of the book may be borrowed from the Medicine Hat College Libraries (Vera Bracken Library & Brooks Campus) and the Medicine Hat Public Library.
