Vis Com Student Honoured
Charis Slusar was presented with a ceremonial head dress last week by Ross Crosschild on behalf of the Blood Tribe Band. Slusar, a Visual Communication student, created an artwork piece in tribute to the aboriginal culture which was on display during the Visual Communication program graduation exhibition. She is the first non-band member to receive this honour.

Guest Speaker: April 29
All faculty and staff are invited to attend Professional Development Days 2010 sponsored by the Faculty Association P.D. Committee. Sid Marty will be our guest speaker on Thursday, April 29th at 1:00 in B369. Marty is a renowned lecturer whose theme will be environmentally focused as well as humorous. His many experiences in the Alberta wilderness with humans and dangerous animals have provided him a wide range of true and captivating stories to share. Round Table Sessions: April 30
Everyone is invited to attend the Friday, April 30th round table sessions as part of our Faculty Association P.D. Days to be held in the Craft Photo Studio at the Cultural Centre from 9:00 to 12:00.
Each session will be approximately 45 minutes in length. No registration is required. The following topics will be featured:

Do some spring cleaning and drop off your old electronics outside the Faculty Association office until May 15. We will take anything with a cord!
Workplace Violence/ Working Alone
New policies regarding workplace violence and working alone have recently been approved and the EHS Office will offer training sessions to all employees on this information. Please see your admin assistant to see when your group is scheduled.
Fire/Emergency Warden Training Sessions
This training session is mandatory for all wardens and will cover operation of the new radio system.
Sessions are:
May 10, 1:00 - 2:30
May 11, 10:30 -12:00
May 12, 10:30-12:00

Innovation Abstract
In "Classroom Management from Outside the Classroom," Steve Thompson, Professor, English and Kinesiology, at Navarro College (TX), describes a successful strategy that he learned from his own teachers and now implements in his own classes. He offers compelling stories about attending to students' interests outside of the classroom and, ultimately, improving their interest in everything that goes on inside of it.

Rattler Run Volunteers Needed
The Rattler Run will take place Saturday, April 24th from10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Volunteer positions include course marshals, water stations attendants, cyclists, and more. A volunteer appreciation event will follow the run in the cafeteria at 1 p.m. All volunteers get a dry-weave technical t-shirt for helping out.

Wanted: Technology-Enthused Educators
The Geekapalooza Planning Committee is looking for technology enthused educators to present during our 3rd annual event on August 19th, 2010, the day after College Day. This annual professional development event brings together educators and technology by sharing ideas and discussing new trends & techniques.
If you have taken a different approach in integrating technology or have developed strategies in utilizing other technical tools, why not share your ideas with your peers?

Automotive Service On Campus
The next automotive tune-up session will start in May and will focus on brakes, steering and suspension, and driveline work. Please print and fill out the service form and send it to the trades department, attention Ray Shannon.
Revised Weight Room Hours
Starting Tuesday, April 6th, the weight room and gymnasium will be operating under reduced spring/summer hours. The revised hours are:
Monday – Friday: 8a.m. – 8p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 11a.m. – 5p.m.
