College Day is Coming
It's never too early to start thinking about College Day! Mark your calendar for August 18 when College Day kicks off the 2010-2011 academic year. The keynote speaker for this year will be Brian Keating. Brian’s full-time job is heading up the Conservation Outreach Department at the Calgary Zoo, where he's responsible for a variety of local and international conservation projects. He also started the Zoo’s nature-based travel program some 20 years ago, visiting many of the best wildlife watching locations on all seven continents. His buoyant, fast-paced and humorous presentations are uplifting and meaningful, and have proven themselves the highlight of many conferences and programs.
Your presence at College Day is required and appreciated!

Workplace Hazardous Material Information System Training
WHMIS training will be available in May. Please contact Rodger if you are working with chemicals and have not received this training in the last three years. Training is free and will be provided at the College during working hours.
Security on Campus
Ever wondered who to call if you see something suspicious? Lock yourself out of your office? Working after hours by yourself? Please call Security anytime at 529-3922.
Electronic Waste Round-up
Computer monitors, CPU's printers, laptops, TV's and other electronics can be dropped off at the college starting 15 March. Please use the bin outside of the duplicating room. The electronic waste is then 97% recycled at GEEP, a registered processor, in Edmonton with all proceeds going to the Saamis Rotary Club to complete community support projects.
Lost and Found
A large number of lost items have been turned in to the Facility Operations office. Lost a sweater, keys, or cell phone? We may have it! Please drop by the office during business hours to check. Facility Operations is located near the doctor's office - Room A142.
Environment Week is Coming Soon

Computer Surplus Sales
More computers are available for purchase. The units have a 3GHz clock speed, 80G HD and no operating system or peripherals are included. Price is $40. Email Rodger at rsloan@mhc.ab.ca to view or purchase.
Course Outline Manager Launch
The Course Outline Manager (COM) is a web-based application developed at Medicine Hat College. The purpose of this program is to improve the consistency and professionalism of our course outlines as these are essentially the contract between our students and the institution for any given course.
COM is a user-friendly program that will help ensure all course outline criteria established by General Academic Council are met. The consistent format and effective design will encourage our students’ use of their outlines by clarifying expectations.
COM is ready to go and Deans’ Council requires that COM be used for all course outlines beginning with the Spring 2010 and Fall 2010 semesters. Educational Technology Services will provide training, one-on-one support and resources to help you switch to COM.
