AUPE General Membership Meeting

All AUPE employees are requested to attend a general membership meeting on Monday, March 15, 2010 in S103 (Medicine Hat Campus) and Room 123 (Brooks Campus). The purpose of this meeting is to discuss bargaining issues (current contract expires June 30, 2010).

"A River Runs Through It" Perspectives Panel on the South Saskatchewan River Basin
Water management is becoming an increasingly important issue in Alberta, particularly in the South Saskatchewan River Basin where we have seen extremely low flows with growing community and industrial demands. This World Water Day, residents of Medicine Hat will host two events to bring to light issues of water within the province and emphasize why any plans and policies that involve water management need to focus on conservation and view water as a fundamental human right and necessary element for a healthy environment.
With representation from the Sierra Club Prairie Chapter, Greenpeace, the Environmental Law Centre, University of Lethbridge, and a grassroots water network in Saskatchewan.

Coming into Camping

The Faculty Association P.D. Committee sponsors a monthly P.D. Bytes noon hour session for all MHC staff and students to attend. This month our session will be entitled, “Coming into Camping”. Russell Krasniuk, from Eco Tourism and Outdoor Leadership will be the speaker. Everyone is invited to bring a bag lunch and listen & learn.

New paintings by Laara Cassells tackle the isolation and absorption of the generation dubbed ‘the intentionally disengaged’. Cassells juxtaposes images of youth and contemporary popular culture with a more historical portrait painting tradition, the equestrian portrait, celebrating both the disjuncture and the resonance between subjects and medium. e·strange runs from February 27 – April 11, 2010 at the Esplanade.

U of C Mixed Choir to Perform at MHC

Dashiell Hammett brought the true story of two school teachers wrongly condemned for lesbianism by the lie of a spiteful student to Hellman’s notice. Her play has earned its place as one of the enduring works of the American Theatre. While it was shunned by the Pulitzer Prize selection committee for drama, the outrage at the play’s exclusion for that award sparked the creation of the Drama Critics Circle award to honour her achievement. This play is not recommended for children.
