What are “Faculty Learning Communities” and how we can benefit from them at Medicine Hat College? A Faculty Learning Community is an endeavor by which professionals meet together for the purpose of enhancing the teaching and learning process. Participants find that their interest in renewed by:

  • Sharing experiences and research
  • Adopting new methods
  • Attempting innovations
  • Examining learning from various perspectives
  • Supporting one another and renewing camaraderie
P.D. Bytes is a monthly noon hour session featuring Faculty Professional Development Reports, sponsored by the Faculty Association Professional Development Committee. Everyone is welcome to attend.



Place-Based Cultural Tourism Presentation

12 p.m. – 1 p.m., Craft and Photo Studio at the Cultural Centre

The essence of cultural tourism is about encountering a destination’s history and heritage, its stories, its people, and its culture. It is about discovering what makes a destination distinctive, authentic, and memorable. It is about the experience of “place”. Our speaker, Steven Thorne, will discuss “place-based cultural tourism” and how we should attempt to capitalize on the unique cultural character and sense of place that distinguishes one place from another.
