International Guests Visit MHC
Medicine Hat College and the Department of International Education welcomed Madame Chen, Chairwoman of E&A College and her colleagues at the end of January.

Also on campus in January were a group from China that included eight students and two administrators from MHC's campus at E&A College. They came to MHC to view our campus, study ESL, and get a general feel for the community.

One Book One Community 2011
The One Book One Community committee is busy planning the 7th annual event for October 2011 and they need your help! Each event, the OBOC book to be read by all of Medicine Hat is selected from suggestions from the community.
During February 2011, the committee will be taking submissions via an online suggestion form and in person at the Vera Bracken Library, Medicine Hat College, the Medicine Hat Public Library and Coles Bookstore in Medicine Hat Mall. Suggested books should be by a Canadian author, available in paperback and substantial enough to generate discussion. Fiction, non-fiction, biography, short stories, or poetry suggestions are welcome. The suggested titles are read and evaluated by volunteer readers and the committee. Once the book has been chosen, the title will be announced in the spring.

In "Preparing Students for a Global Economy," Richard Bucher, Professor of Sociology, at Baltimore City Community College (MD), describes strategies for institutionalizing initiatives to promote cultural intelligence, including learning outcomes and assessment across the curriculum, in developmental education and first-year programs, in faculty and staff development, in student activities and requirements, and in organizational partnerships.

Automotive Tune-Up Sessions - Space Still Available!
During this session, apprenticeship students will perform general tune-up work, check engine lights, test and/or repair starting and charging systems, and diagnose electrical problems.
This service is open to all staff on campus including their families. If you are interested in having work done on your vehicle, please fill out a service request form and return to Ray Shannon or the Trades Department. Once your work order is received, someone will contact you with a booking time.
