New paintings by Laara Cassells tackle the isolation and absorption of the generation dubbed ‘the intentionally disengaged’. Cassells juxtaposes images of youth and contemporary popular culture with a more historical portrait painting tradition, the equestrian portrait, celebrating both the disjuncture and the resonance between subjects and medium. E strange runs from February 27 – April 11, 2010 at the Esplanade.

Register now for the Interprovincial "Below Your Watershed" Groundwater Conference, March 11 to 12, 2010 in Medicine Hat. Hosted by SEAWA and sponsored by Cenovus Energy, the City of Medicine Hat and the Provincial Government, this conference will highlight the most relevant and current scientific and policy groundwater issues in Alberta and Saskatchewan. With speakers from university, government, research, industry, agriculture, consulting and NGO sectors, participants will gain an in depth understanding of the increasing importance of groundwater.
